No ally should stand alone in court.
Afghan wartime allies were promised a pathway to the United States for their service in our longest war. They came through legal channels. They showed up to court as required. Now they are being targeted, arrested, and detained by ICE, with no warning, no due process, and no justification.
Why this matters
That is not just wrong. It is un-American.
In response, AfghanEvac and IAVA launched Battle Buddies, an effort to stand with our wartime allies as they move through their immigration process. Because no one who stood with us in war should have to stand alone in court.
Battle Buddies brings veterans, advocates, and everyday Americans to courtroom doors, standing quietly, lawfully, and deliberately, to witness and affirm that our promises still stand.
What a Battle Buddy does
Show up. Stand quietly. Make sure no one is alone.
Show up
Attend public immigration court hearings and help ensure due process is respected. Your presence is the point.
Stand quietly
A respectful, lawful presence. No signs, no disruptions, no photography. You follow legal guidance at every step.
Escort with consent
When an ally consents, you walk them into and out of court, so they never have to face it alone.
