Johnny Mercer served on Combat Operations with UK Commandos in Afghanistan in 2006, 2008-9 and 2010 alongside US and Afghan Special Forces. He was then elected to public office and served as a UK Government Minister from 2019. He served in the Cabinet of two UK Prime Ministers.

He worked to co-ordinate the UK’s cross-Government response to the reintegration of Afghans. Now working in the private sector, he remains heavily involved in ensuring that the UK realises the debt of gratitude it owes, in particular to Afghan Special Forces - Commando Force 333 and 444
