Since January 2025, the United States has dramatically reversed course on its commitments to Afghan allies who stood alongside American service members, diplomats, and development professionals for more than two decades.
Processing pathways have been halted. Relocation flights have been suspended. Families have been separated. Lawful status has been questioned or revoked. In some cases, Afghan allies who followed every requirement and relied on explicit U.S. assurances have been detained, threatened with removal, or left stranded in dangerous conditions abroad.
Members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee are convening this Shadow Hearing to examine what has occurred since January 2025, document the real-world consequences of recent policy decisions, and ensure that the voices of Afghan allies, veterans, advocates, and experts are reflected in the congressional record.
AfghanEvac is supporting this effort by helping elevate facts, lived experiences, and policy expertise related to U.S. commitments to Afghan wartime allies.
Use the form below to register your interest in attending the House Foreign Affairs Committee shadow hearing on Wednesday February 11, 2026 at 3:30pm. Registration will not result in speaking time, a witness slot, or a specific opportunity to engage with members of Congress.
We do not recommend in-person attendance by individuals who are vulnerable to enforcement or lack secure immigration status. We do want veterans, faith leaders, and other involved in the evacuation process.
If you wish to submit a written statement for commitee review, AfghanEvac can help coordinate that process — email it directly in PDF format to statements@afghanevac.org. If you are someone vulnerable to enforcement or awaiting relocation, please do not include identifiable information.
