Take action · Afghanistan TPS Act
Come to Washington. Make the case in person.
The Afghanistan TPS Act (H.R. 9899) is moving toward a discharge petition. When it is ready, members of Congress need to hear from their own constituents, face to face. Raise your hand below and we will be in touch.

Why this matters now
A bill with bipartisan support, stuck in committee
H.R. 9899 would restore Temporary Protected Status for Afghanistan through 2029, require decisions within 90 days, and waive fees for those who qualify only because of the designation. It was introduced by two Republicans and two Democrats and has a bipartisan Senate companion.
On October 1, Reps. Crow and Liccardo filed a special rule, the first step toward a discharge petition that would force a House floor vote. That petition is expected to open when the House returns after the election. The ask between now and then is simple: get members to commit to signing it. Nothing moves a member like a constituent in the office.
What to expect
If you sign up and come
We schedule your meetings
AfghanEvac will set up meetings with your own representative and senators, matched to where you live, and prepare you with talking points and a one-pager.
You tell your story
Veterans, Afghan allies and families, resettlement volunteers, and community leaders are the voices offices remember. You do not need policy expertise, just your reason for caring.
We gather afterward
We will host a happy hour for everyone who comes, to debrief and keep the group connected for the advocacy that follows.
Please note: AfghanEvac cannot pay for travel to Washington, D.C., or for lodging. We will do everything else to make the day count.
Register your interest
Tell us you can be there
This is an interest form, not a commitment. We will email you with dates, meeting assignments, and happy hour details as the discharge petition moves.
In the meantime
Do not wait for a date to act.
Ask your representative to commit to signing the discharge petition when it opens. It takes two minutes, and the offices are counting.
